Privacy

Privacy policy

Short version: we don't ask for your personal information, and we don't sell it. The longer version is below.

What we collect

Blind Date With a Book is a static website with no accounts, no logins, and no newsletter sign-up. We don't ask you for your name, email, or payment details, and our tools, including the teaser generator and label maker, run entirely in your browser. What you type into them stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Third-party services

Like most websites, we rely on a few third parties, and they may collect data of their own:

  • Google AdSense. We use Google to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Amazon. Some links lead to Amazon. If you follow one, Amazon may set cookies to track that the visit came from us so any qualifying purchase is credited correctly. Your activity on Amazon is governed by Amazon's own privacy policy.
  • Hosting & analytics. The site is served by our hosting provider, which may keep standard, anonymized server logs (such as IP addresses and browser type) for security and reliability. For traffic analytics we use Umami, a privacy-friendly tool we self-host: it sets no cookies, does not track you across other websites, and records only aggregate, anonymized usage, such as which pages and tools are popular. We look at trends, not individuals.

Cookies

We don't set our own tracking cookies. The cookies you may encounter come from the third parties above, chiefly for advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site's free tools will keep working without them.

Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you. Because we don't collect or store personal data ourselves, most such requests are best directed to the third-party services named above. If you have any questions, you're welcome to contact us.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes & contact

We may update this policy as the site evolves; the date below reflects the latest revision. For any privacy question, email [email protected].
